Kim Delaney is an American actress who is best known as the character Detective Diane Russell in ABCs series NYPD Blue for which she garnered the Emmy Award. Her other credits include her performances in the drama series All My Children Philly CSI: Miami as well as Army Wives. Delaney, the only daughter of the United Auto Workers senior executive and a domestic worker, was raised by four brothers and sisters. When she was a kid, she dreamt of being an official in the courtroom. After graduating from high school and relocating into New York in the 1980s then she started modeling. Her first appearance as an actor was as a young girl in the soap opera All My Children. Her career as an actor has been awash with a variety of television shows and dramas. The way she lives her life, unlike her professional one has nt been a success and has not been happy. She has also experienced two failed marriages, and has struggled with alcohol addiction. The year 2005 was the time she was denied custody of the only child she was born with.
